Gastroscopy  is the endoscopic examination of a horse’s stomach. The examination is preformed to determine if the horse has stomach ulcers, tumors, parasites or other problems.

A few reasons that may warrant having your horse’s stomach scoped are poor performance, not eating well, sulking, bucking, pinning of the ears, eating dirt, chewing on fences, not racing up to his potential, loose stools, dull hair coat, cribbing and colic. In addition it is well known that shipping horses for 4 hours or more will lead to the development of ulcers. In addition 90% of horses in training and at race tracks have gastric ulcers.
